Agreeing to these terms
These terms apply when you use this website or hire Durango Concrete Company for concrete work. By browsing the site, calling us, sending a request or accepting an estimate, you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use the site or book work with us.
Your signed estimate or written agreement for a specific job also applies to that job. Where it says something different from this page, the written agreement for your job controls.
What we do
Durango Concrete Company is a concrete contractor in Durango, CO. We build driveways, patios, sidewalks, steps, garage floors, slabs, footings, foundations, retaining walls and decorative and stamped concrete, and we do related work such as concrete cutting and foundation raising. The home page lists every service we offer, and our About page tells you more about how we work.
Information on this site is general. It explains how concrete jobs usually go, but it isn't advice about your property. What your job needs is decided at the estimate, after we've seen the site.
Estimates and pricing
We give free on-site estimates, and asking for one puts you under no obligation. We price each job after we've walked the site, because the size of the area, what's under it now, the access for trucks and equipment, how the water drains and the finish you pick all change the work involved.
An estimate is based on what we can see before work starts. Sometimes we find conditions nobody could see on day one, such as soft or wet ground under an old slab, buried debris or roots. If that happens, we'll stop and talk with you before doing extra work, and any change in price is agreed with you before we go ahead.
Changes you ask for after the estimate is accepted, such as a bigger patio or a different finish, may change the price and the schedule. We'll confirm those changes with you in writing.
Scheduling, weather and cancellation
We schedule your job when you accept the estimate, and we'll do our best to keep that date. Concrete depends on the weather, so rain, freezing temperatures, extreme heat or a wet subgrade, which is the ground the slab sits on, can push a pour back. We move the date in those cases because pouring in bad conditions makes a weaker slab, and we'll let you know as early as we can.
After the pour, the new concrete needs time to cure, which is the wait while it hardens and gains strength before it can take foot traffic or vehicles. We'll tell you how long to stay off it. Using it early can damage it, and damage caused that way isn't our responsibility.
If you need to cancel or reschedule, please call us as soon as possible. If we've already ordered concrete, materials or equipment for your job, you may be responsible for those costs, as set out in your estimate or agreement.
Payment
The amount due, any deposit, the payment schedule and the ways you can pay are stated in your written estimate or agreement. Payment is due on the dates it sets out.
If a balance goes unpaid, we may pause work until it's settled and use the remedies Colorado law allows to collect it.
What concrete does and our warranty
We stand behind our work, and satisfaction is guaranteed on every job. If something isn't right, call us and we'll come look at it. Any specific warranty for your job, including what it covers and for how long, is the one written in your estimate or agreement.
Concrete naturally shrinks as it cures and moves with temperature, so small surface cracks can appear even on a well-built slab. We cut control joints, which are planned grooves that give the slab a place to crack in a straight line, to keep that cracking where it does the least harm. Hairline cracks, slight color differences between pours and normal surface wear are part of how concrete behaves and aren't defects.
We aren't responsible for damage caused by things outside our control, including heavy vehicles or loads the slab wasn't built for, deicing salts and chemicals, ground movement, changes in drainage made after the job, tree roots, misuse, or repairs and changes made by someone else. Apart from what's written in your agreement or required by law, we make no other promises about the work or this website.
Limits on our liability
As far as Colorado law allows, Durango Concrete Company isn't liable for indirect or consequential losses, such as lost use of your property, lost income or other costs that follow from a delay or a problem with the work. Our total liability for any claim about a job is limited to the amount you paid us for that job.
We're licensed and insured. Nothing in these terms limits any right you have that the law doesn't allow us to limit.
This website is provided as it is. We work to keep it accurate, but we don't promise it's always complete, current or free of errors, and we aren't responsible for websites we link to.
Settling a disagreement
If you have a problem with our work or a bill, please call us first. Most problems get sorted out fastest when we can come back out, look at it together and agree on a fix.
If we can't settle it that way, we both agree to try mediation in good faith before going to court. If that doesn't settle it either, the dispute will be heard in the courts in La Plata County, Colorado.
Colorado law applies
These terms, and any work we do, are governed by the laws of the State of Colorado.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time, and the version on this page is the one in effect. Changes don't affect a job you've already agreed to in writing unless we both agree they should.
